Our commitment to your safety

At Northern Rivers Denture Clinic, your health and safety are our highest priorities. We maintain rigorous infection prevention and control standards at all times — not just in response to specific health events, but as a permanent and non-negotiable part of how we operate.

At our Tweed Heads denture clinic, infection control obligations are governed by national law as prescribed by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA) and the Dental Board of Australia. These standards are stringently adhered to across every aspect of our clinic.

Our infection prevention and control standards

Sterilisation and instruments

All reusable instruments are sterilised using an autoclave (steam sterilisation) between every patient. Single-use instruments are disposed of after each appointment and never reused. Sterilisation records are maintained and monitored regularly.

Staff hygiene and protective equipment

Stringent handwashing protocols are followed before and after every patient contact. Clinical staff wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including masks, protective eyewear and gloves, and PPE is changed between patients.

Clinic environment

All clinical surfaces are wiped down with hospital-grade antiseptic solution between every appointment. Waiting areas and high-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitised throughout the day, and hand sanitiser is available for patients on arrival and throughout the clinic.

What to expect at your visit

When you arrive, you will find hand sanitiser available at reception. Our clinical staff will be appropriately dressed in PPE, and you can be confident that the treatment area has been fully prepared and sterilised before your appointment.

If you have any concerns about our infection control procedures, please don't hesitate to ask — we are always happy to walk you through what we do and why.

Please do not attend if you are unwell

To protect all of our patients and staff — many of whom may be elderly or immunocompromised — we ask that you do not attend your appointment if you are feeling unwell, experiencing cold or flu symptoms, or have been asked to isolate. We are happy to reschedule your appointment at no charge once you have recovered. Please call us on 07 5536 4241 as soon as possible so we can offer your appointment time to another patient.
