Your annual check-up, on us
Northern Rivers Denture Clinic offers a free annual denture health check to all new and existing patients in Tweed Heads, Coolangatta, Banora Point, Tugun, and Elanora and the surrounding areas. It's our way of making sure your dentures continue to serve you well — and that any issues are caught early, before they become bigger problems.
The check takes approximately 15 minutes, is conducted by one of our qualified prosthetists, and comes with no cost, no obligation and no pressure. We'll also send you a yearly reminder by SMS or postcard so you never have to think about booking it yourself.

What does the health check involve?
In 15 minutes, your prosthetist will assess:
- Denture fit — checking for any changes in how your denture sits, seals and moves. Loose or poorly fitting dentures are one of the most common and easily overlooked problems
- Denture condition — examining for cracks, chips, wear to the teeth or base, and any signs the denture is nearing the end of its useful life
- Bite and occlusion — assessing whether your upper and lower teeth are meeting correctly, as an uneven bite can cause jaw discomfort and accelerate wear
- Oral tissue health — checking the health of your gums, soft tissues and any remaining natural teeth for signs of irritation, pressure sores or other concerns
- Hygiene habits — a quick check of how you're cleaning your dentures and personalised advice if there's room to improve
At the end of the check, your prosthetist will give you an honest summary of findings and let you know whether any follow-up is recommended — whether that's a reline, a repair, or simply continuing as you are. If a treatment plan is recommended, we'll provide an obligation-free quote before you leave.
Why does regular checking matter?
Dentures don't last forever, and neither does the mouth they sit in. Over time, the bone and gum tissue beneath your dentures gradually changes shape — a natural process that continues throughout life. As this happens, even well-made dentures can begin to fit less accurately, affecting comfort, chewing efficiency and long-term oral health.
Regular annual checks allow us to monitor these changes and address them early. A reline at the right time, for example, can extend the life of a denture significantly and prevent the discomfort and expense of leaving things too long.
Your annual health check also keeps your denture warranty active, so it's well worth making it part of your routine. For many patients, it's also a good opportunity to ask questions they've been putting off — about how their dentures look, feel, or compare to newer options available today.
